Can a mod unlock the "item" so I can enter the tracks myself? |
Which album are you referring to? |
The Cellar Door Sessions 1970 - Miles Davis

Apologies & thanks for the feedback. This is a bug in the current system, so I've just made a fix to allow new users to add track listings if they are missing.

Fantastic! You're fast! Didn't realize it was considered a bug.

I've attempted to stop being lazy and finishing data when I add things to the database.

Do people really add new albums without all the requested info? That's so lame. From now on for every new album I add I will make it a goal to moderate an unfinished album.

One useful tip ...
In the "Newly Added Albums" section there is a Filter at the top to allow you to select items that you might prefer to edit: e.g.
- missing artwork
- missing year
- invalid release date (usually a difficult one)
- invalid track listing
I quite "enjoy" doing track lists.
I've recently plucked up courage to complete John Lee Hooker's "King Of The Boogie" compilation. (100 tracks, some Live, some featuring other artists like Van Morrison and Eric Claption).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ofg-MSZdf0 is his collaboration with the Groundhogs.

I mainly try to do the same thing but for all four categories together and by starting to resolve the less recent missing data. This means that in a lot of instances I’m dealing with that most difficult part: the release date. In some cases the exact date is really untraceable.

Discogs is very often poor for establishing the release Date quoting just the Year. I find that Apple Music is very good for finding the date though. And Wikipedia. But I find that Wikipedia is the most slow to catch up with recent and rare releases. Bandcamp is another useful source, although finding the release date can be a bid difficult because the writing is small (especially if you have poor eyesight).
Just searching on - "Album title" by "Artist" release date - is the last resort but sometimes comes up with something, but you sometimes wonder about reliability.
Any other tips?
