I don't know nearly enough to say who are the BEST or GREATEST guitarists, so these would just be my favorites. The ones I've always enjoyed the most. In no particular order
Ry Cooder
Jimi Hendrix
Mark Knopfler
Ricky Wilson. (B-52's)
Thurston Moore
Bob Mould
Nile Rodgers. (Chic)
Ernie Isley (Isley Brothers)
Mick Ronson
Joni Mitchell
Chet Atkins
Ellen McIllwaine
Duane Eddy
James Taylor
Dickie Betts
John McLaughlin

Ah man I have so many favorites, but probably my top two (mostly because I try to emulate them in my own guitar playing) are David Gilmour and Jeff Beck.
That being said, I have tons of guitarists I love.
Also, apropos of nothing, Vito Bratta is a personal favorite who has never gotten the love he deserves (likely because he was in a hair metal band). Same with Reb Beach. _________________ 2023 Chart

Can u believe i had Roy Clark on my list but i edited it out because I thought nobody would know who it is and thed ask questions?
Well obviously I was wrong, so I should just put him right back on my list, right? heh heh
I also had Les Paul but took hin off too.
I also thought people would say 'Hes just a banjo player, not a guitar player". Lol

Really really lots of them.
But I guess I could say the following really stand out from the crowd and I enjoy their playing with great passion:
Eric Clapton
Gary Moore
Mark Knopfler
Jeff Beck
Brian May
David Gilmour _________________ All time
