A fine album, although this is where I started to lose my interest in REM. I much prefer its two predecessors, Life's Rich Pageant and Fables of the Reconstruction

Interesting. Got a copy of Fables on vinyl for cheap like 15 years ago and fell in love with that album...
Having said that, I like the mega band R.E.M. became starting with this album. Murmur and the IRS years in general are great in their own right, but idk - I like the bittersweet pop they went on to write - it was always this noble pop music. And then they exploded into much more artistic endeavors musically.
But I think this is a common thing amongst those who love R.E.M., especially the fans from the beginning... I wasn't even born then.

I recently revisited Document and it was even better than I remembered. Murmur is my top R.E.M. album, but my #2 might be a three-way tie between Reckoning, Document, and Green. You can't go wrong with '80s R.E.M.
Have any of you ever sang It's the End of the World As We Know It on Karaoke Night? I'd love to try it some time, but that's gotta be challenging. _________________ on such a winter's day

Same. I would always say LRP is my personal favourite. _________________ Top Canadian songs, keyless entry remotes, home care, whatever...

I was in a band in the 90's that played it. I was the lead singer. It is a challenge. But I still remember every word. _________________ May we all get to heaven

That's even harder than karaoke because you didn't have the lyrics on a screen in front of you. Respect.

Always felt like this is one of R.E.M.'s weakest efforts. Is it popular because it has 'End of the World' on it? Almost all the other songs fall a bit flat, imo. 'Disturbance at the Heron House' is my favourite here.
Like Fischman said, the two albums before outshine this one for me by miles.
