A pretty good Album of the Year lineup, but the most reliable field--Alternative Music Album--is pretty ugly. Pretty much everyone nominated is so for their worst albums. American Dream and Everything Now are atrocious. Humanz is a mess. Pure Comedy is fine, but really? Even my favorite of the bunch, Sleep Well Beast, is the band's weakest effort of their Alligator-and-onward career.

I don't know.

Not surprisingly, Slowdive and their excellent new album got snubbed. "Star Roving" and "Falling Ashes" are 2 of my favourite songs of the 2010s.

As for Album of the Year, I suppose I'm rooting for Kendrick, even though DAMN. is nowhere near as good as good kid, m.A.A.d. city or To Pimp A Butterfly, at least in my opinion.

Congrats to Alison Krauss on her nominations for Best American Roots Performance and Best Country Solo!

God bless you and her always!!!

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

P.S. If she were to get both awards, she would then have 29 which would put her just two awards behind the man with the most, late conductor Georg Solti that is who currently has 31.

Here are the nominations for 1981 grammys.

Glass Houses – Billy Joel
Trilogy: Past Present Future – Frank Sinatra
The Wall – Pink Floyd
Christopher Cross – Christopher Cross
Guilty – Barbra Streisand

Christopher Cross’ self-titled debut wins Album of the Year, 1981.

Are you fucking kidding me.

Without a doubt, this one is an epic failure beyond all failures, and one of the worst decisions in Grammy voter history.
Who is Christopher Cross, you ask? EXACTLY MY POINT.

I stopped watching all music award shows years ago.
Its all bull-shit.

Uh, I mean, obviously the worst decision was Jethro Tull beating Metallica for best hard rock/heavy metal recording in 1989

My parents, fans of Pink Floyd, have a Cristopher Cross album at home (maybe that one?). Never listened to it but I guess it isn't that bad. The fact that he isn't well known means nothing wrong about his album.

I look at the nominations that year and the nominations this year and cry Sad

As for Alison Kraus, I have yet to discover most of his work but I think that she has a nice voice. Thanks for the interesting fact JOS.

No offense or anything, but this list looks a lot like BEA.

Just saying a lot are depressed with the nominations, yet BEA seems to have come to similar conclusions.
