That's a pretty short list. Not sure if it was intentional. Feel free to edit at any point if you like. If not that's cool too. Enjoy your quirky picks. Never would have expected to see WC Fields on here but he was quite good. And I really love Melvyn Douglas.

Speaking of short lists, maybe someone who's hosted before can help me understand something. Aren't the lists normally weighted based on size? If so what's the proper method for weighing? Like if I'm giving 50 points for #1 and 1 point for #50, what do I do for a top 25? 25-1? 50-26? Something else?

I'm glad I found out that we should rank them in order. I went back and re-did mine because it was nothing close to being in order.
And I finished my actors list.

I think I've only seen 3 Greta Garbo movies. And for some reason I just don't know her well enough. I liked Ninotchka and Anna Christie. And I think I've seen Camille but I don't remember it that well. I'm going to have to check her out again. I know she only has a handful of movies, so it shouldn't take too long to catch up.

Yeah, I think WC Fields was great. I enjoy him as much as anybody else I've ever seen. I was a little disappointed not to see more comedy stars on people's lists. Like Mae West, Margaret Dumont, W.C. Fields etc. But I'm glad to see a few Charlie Chaplins and Buster Keatons.

I apologize for not making it clear in the OP. I guess I just assumed it was the same bunch of us as usual and wasn't expecting any first timers.

I love a handful of modern comedic actors but my general love for comedy gradually drops as time goes by. Chaplin and Keaton are bosses (and Harold Lloyd who was so close for me) then I really love Peter Sellers; after that Gene Wilder, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and the like are great but when so many of their contemporaries had a higher overall quality of films I had to leave most of them off. Had we done 100 of each gender I'd have fit all those names and probably a few more.

Alright guys, I'm gonna start doing some work on this tonight. If anyone intends to change any of the lists that have already been posted, please leave a new comment to let me know and I'll update you on my chart. Felix - I won't be including yours as of now; let me know when you've gone back and re-ordered them. If you don't get around to it I'll probably just include your list as it is at the last minute.

30. Daniel Day Lewis (There Will Be Blood)

You wanna expand any further on this one, Dave? There's literally EIGHT women here (and 22 men, in case anyone still thinks this should have been a single list for "equality" purposes) so they won't hold much weight.

Update Alright, so as of right now I've got the actresses done for the nine users (nutso, Mercury, Tha1ChiefRocka, Gowi, AwaitingAndrew, badseed, StreetSpirit, Stover75, hereforashortime) who submitted at least 50 (one of you guys did like 55 or 60). I've sent a couple PMs out to see if anybody who's close to 50 wants to add a few more. The other lists will be added in at some point but it was easier to start with the top 50s for now (from which we have 202 unique names to have appeared on at least one list). Now I'm gonna get a jump start and do the men's top 50 lists as well. If anyone makes any changes at this point be sure to let me know.

I've done the same with the top 50 men's lists (8 out of 9 of the same users as above with the exception of StreetSpirit who hasn't submitted a men's list yet). Fun fact: although no women have acheived this feat, there are three men (out of 207 total) who have appeared on every list tallied so far.

EditBobby and Felix, thanks, I'll add you in as well now.

This is rather tiresome, haha. I think you guys might be surprised how this thing turns out.

Hey who doesn't like surprises? Looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

I will get an actor's list in before the Jan 31 deadline. Not sure how it will look, but it will probably be difficult and time-consuming like the actresses list. I spent 2-3 hours on that, much longer than any of our movie lists. Making movie lists is easy. I go to my letterboxd, filter the movies I've watched by decade or genre, sort them by my rating and my lists practically write themselves. Making these acting lists is a lot harder. There's so much to consider. Anyway, I have a feeling the entire cast of Glengarry Glen Ross will make my actors list.

I'm bound to be missing so many, but just cant wrack my brain fast enough. I also feel a little iffy putting people up there that I've only seen one performance from (even if it's a knockout...). So, yeah. There we go.
