Records that the artist did perfectly but doesn't amaze.

Although I love this album, I think it fits the description of this post perfectly

Tears For Fears: The Seeds of Love (1989)

Have you tried Ege Bamyasi? It's a little bit more tangible. Vitamin C is very Floyd-esque (and very good).

Not yet. Will do Smile

Also, all y'alls, do you feel like maybe you haven't listened to it enough?

I know that's often my problem. I listen to something 4 times and I'm like yeah - does nothing for me.

Then (as others point out) - it either just grows on me, or something external happens. I learn something to put context to the music - a music video/clarity on what the artist was trying to accomplish, etc.

dunno - just some thoughts.

Oh believe me, I agree with this comment. And hell I do want to listen to Lateralus again at some point. And the context does help out with some records. Hell look at Kid A. It's just when records get in the top 20 an expectation does build up in you thinking some records won't impress you in genres you are well versed in as well as records impressing you with no extensive knowledge. And sometimes it is both.

Perhaps I'm being an American here (we often embellish things, like saying I love the color red... well no, the color red pleases you/you don't actually love it)... it'd be hard to say what really is the best post in all of BEA history.

But I did love your enthusiasm to lose your shit over music.

May you lose your shit like this guy:

Surely though in all these example you guys are just not yet aware of the thing you don't find quite right about these albums. I'm sure if you listened more to these albums you'd realise what is happening. This has happened to me loads of times with stuff I didn't like as much as expected even though I think I should really like it. Eventually you see what it is. Smile
