For me Lorde had the best album from that list
Followed by The National and War on Drugs.
Didn't rate Damn much at all surprised by how popular it is. I prefer Frank Ocean to Kendrick.

Kendrick is sooo overrated. There are so many better rappers out there. Voted for Lorde.

I seem to be the only person in the universe who thinks Taylor Swift made a better album than Lorde in 2017 (not trolling here-I honestly mean that ) |
I really want to hear you defend look what you made me do right now. I haven't heard anyone say something positive about that song, that isn't an annoying teenage fangirl with no taste. So I really want a new perspective on this. _________________ Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me.

I'd probably rank as:
Top 79 Music Albums of 2017 by sethmadsen
idk... a few of these I didn't even rank. I really can't get into Fleet Foxes or The War on Drugs.
I think if Brockhampton had put those efforts into a single album I'd be way more interested... (haven't listened to III yet). Somehow it's really strong and then trails for me.
A Crow Looked At Me is the most emotionally real album I've ever heard.

They were the only two keepers I had out of the top ten.

Well I think its a decent enough track but not one of my favourites on the album to be honest. I can only give a partial defence of it
I think it's an ambitious pop song at least. Although it seems very superficial, I think its meant to parody the various media perceptions of Taylor Swift. But its a bit confusing and all those jibes at Kanye etc are too distracting.
Musically, I think its pretty good, though not her best. On the plus side, it merges various different pop styles pretty seamlessly. The hook isn't amazing but its catchy at least. I like that bit where she is sort of chanting about drama and Karma. That's cool. And I like the way it builds at the end with the hook over the middle 8.
But overall , there are better tracks on the album. Too many ideas/personas in this one meaning that none come into focus properly. The video probably has the same problem so added to the confusion.

Haven't really sorted out my 2017 chart yet, but Slowdive would definitely be up there. (So that gets my vote pro tem).
Phil Elverum's Crow ought to get my vote, but I can't listen to more than 2 tracks without feeling I'm intruding on some private grief which is still raw. Maybe in 5 years time that will end up on top for 2017 - it's not just emotional ... it's musical. _________________ There is a global map to find out where BEA members are ...
