I know there's such a thing as Modern Bluegrass, but it's just awful. Alison Krauss and shit. It's way too slow and sounds like every other piece of shit record that comes out.

Obviously you have never heard this Grammy award winning instrumental from Alison and Union Station.

I don't think this conversation has been circular at all.

Well, considering most modern music sounds very similar I think its a safe statement to make.

Not really. Artists that have been mentioned here (Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, Daniel Romano, Jason Isbell, for example) are all very talented songwriters and don't sound the same at all.

@Rocky

I don't know, on the Easy Listening FM stations that have been popping up in San Diego (for driving) everything sounds so similar, and they have lots of old music too! Maybe I'll have to listen more to the artists you mentioned Smile

I would avoid Garth Brooks...

You are very correct about most of what Garth Brooks has done. And the whole Chris Gaines thing...it's very, VERY bad.

The music of modern pop country is mostly recycled classic rock music with a steel guitar or a fiddle thrown on top to make it sound country. It is, again, not good.

@Romanelli

Yeah, music keeps getting recycled! If you listen to classical there's a lot less recycling. If I wasn't involved in music making I would just listen to classical!

@ Gowi

That is true, most of the country I hear on those stations is just Tay.
