There is a reason. The reason is that today's audiences like sucky music.

50s:
Miles Davis
Charles Mingus
Art Blakey
Dizzy Gillespie
Thelonious Monk

60s:
John Coltrane
Bob Dylan
The Velvet Underground
The Beatles
Tim Buckley

70s:
David Bowie
Pink Floyd
Miles Davis (again)
Can
Bruce Springsteen

80s:
Joy Division
Talking Heads
The Smiths
R.E.M.
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

90s:
The Tragically Hip
Radiohead
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (again)
Elliott Smith
R.E.M. (again)

00s:
Joanna Newsom
Radiohead (again)
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (again)
Animal Collective
Sufjan Stevens

10s:
Kendrick Lamar
Car Seat Headrest
Joanna Newsom (again)
Frank Ocean
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (again goddammit)

It's tough, since most of my favourite artists, like Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Radiohead so on, are impossible to pin down to a specific decade because they've just been so consistent for so long.

'50s - Abstain. I don't know enough artists or albums here to say. Maybe Miles Davis?
'60s - VU or The Beatles
'70s - Probably Bowie.
'80s - Elvis Costello
'90s - Soundgarden or Pavement
'00s and '10s - Radiohead (could go in 90s too tbh)

Yeah, some artists could go in more than one decade. A couple of them I had to decide which decade would fit better.

But I must say that I don't find the music from Canada or England particularly bad or of a worst quality than anywhere else.
