I haven't listened to Rattle & Hum (6th album-1988) for > 10 yrs.
This weekend it got a full play. On the CD, the band performs a live version of Jimi Hendrix's "All along the Watchtower".
OMG. The band turns up the heat and kills it!!!!!
I forgot all about how good this album is.
Bono & the Edge deliver a pleasant surprise that would easily have put a smile on Jimi's face.
I really love it when an artist or band performs a recording from another artist.
It sounds so much more "cooler". Its the ultimate tribute.
Here are some of my favourites:
Roxy Music singing John Lennon's "Jealous Guy"
Billy Idol performing Simple Minds "Dont you forget about Me"
Guns N' Roses singing Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door"
Cowboy Junkies performing Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane"
I could go on and on.
Which is your favourite reporduction?

Hope Jimi's version put a smile on Bob Dylan's face.
