We ended up with no ties in the first round. Based on popular demand, the tiebreaker from now on will be average rating. Again, this will not apply to the championship or third-place matches. One-day extensions until the tie is broken will take place for those if necessary. _________________ Add me on RYM

Last call for extensions on the sweet sixteen round! Let me know before 11:59 PM Eastern Time tonight, which is when voting will close if no extensions are requested. _________________ Add me on RYM

And that's all for the sweet sixteen round. Three more upsets, including a loss for the #1 seed. Will post the elite eight matches shortly. _________________ Add me on RYM

Deserved close calls as it's a great final eight. Six of these are in my best of 2017, three from the year and three finds from this tourney. By the way I voted for King Gizz, Wolf Alice, The National, and Jesca Hoop. Looking forward to seeing who goes through.

I voted the exact opposite of you haha. Agree that it's a good batch overall. _________________ Add me on RYM

This is no slight on anyone, but it feels like an underwhelming, somewhat homogenous last eight to me. I find very few of these records exciting in any way. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

The biggest letdown for me was both Arca and Perfume Genius getting upset in the first round. I guess there’s not a lot of fondness for queer art pop. If every album you had voted for had won, what would be left in the tournament? _________________ Add me on RYM

Susanne Sundfor getting booted is my biggest letdown but having nominated Perfume Genius, that's a close second. Do you think their sexuality had anything to do with them getting dropped so early? I would hope that's pretty irrelevant to the voters.

That would kind of defeat the purpose of the tournament, right? I'm not terribly excited about anything that's left, but I'll keep on participating nonetheless. We've all got our own year charts for our opinions on how this tourney should've gone. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.
