Am I edgy? Are they bad artists? Is it wrong to say the two have made a collection of perfect tunes?
I'm not offended, I just don't get your comment... |
I have no idea how edgy of a person you are, but thinking those two artists have 89 perfect songs is an edgy opinion.
Looking at the formal definitions of edgy now, I see the common internet usage of the word is not listed, so perhaps that is a source of confusion. I meant a spicy/provocative/unpopular opinion, often vocalized for the purpose of bait.
(I do think it's a wrong opinion and they're bad musicians, but that's not what I was saying.) |
That just goes to show my carefreeness of not fitting in with the "popular opinions" . And yes, many people have attacked me over the years just by liking these two particular artists . Hopsin and XXXTentacion are two of my favorite rappers, that has helped me through a lot, but also opened my eyes, and made spectacular music that still stands tall .
My opinion can be as wrong as possible, I'm still gonna stick with it, 'cause it is mine after all. But I don't really see it as edgy though. |
Dude, I wasn't attacking you. My original comment was tongue-in-cheek. And that statement in parentheses was only answering the questions you asked.
Outside of niche music criticism sites like BEA and RYM, they have tons of fans, and XXXTentacion in particular did very well on the charts. So in the grand scheme of things, liking their music doesn't indicate that you don't fit in with popular opinions, even though that may be the case for this specific website. _________________ Add me on RYM

Kendrick: Hiiipower, Most of GKMC, all of TPAB, probably two on untitled, unmastered, four-five on DAMN |

Maladroit: 2
Make Believe: no
Red: 2 (plus three bonus songs)
Raditude: LOL
Hurley: 3
EWBAITE: 3, counting Futurescope Trilogy as one song (plus two unreleased songs Everybody Needs Salvation and Caveman)

This is a complicated question, I might just explore my collection to get a correct answer, but intuitively I would say Dylan. _________________ All time

For me personally i have 3 answers
The Beatles
Prince
and Buddy Holly
Prince may benefit here from having a large vast of musical output. While not all of it is perfect. Such a large amount of it is perfect that it fits this criteria for me
The Beatles here for me benefit with writing and performing really good pop songs and evolving with that
Buddy Holly unfortunately did not live to see a long and prosperous career. But what he sent shockwaves to me and to almost every band succeeding him. _________________ "I Wanna Take You To A Wasteland I Like To Call My Home"

No worries. And by not fitting in with the popular opinion, I mean this site and RYM. I didn't see it as an attack, but many people have stated that I have a "wrong opinion" whereafter calling me names and everything. You didn't, so it's all good. Normally I don't care how artists are doing on the charts, but X definitely deserved it.

The number of 89 (44 and 45) is not exact. It's just around that. For Hopsin it would be fx:
2 songs on Emerge
1 song from Gazing At The Moonlight
12 songs on Raw
18 (all) songs on Knock Madness - although that album is very very debatable in terms of perfection...
3 songs on Pound Syndrome
11 songs on No Shame
= 47. It actually was over, as of how I remember
For XXXTentacion:
10 songs on Free X - a lot of the rest, comes really close though.
11 (all) songs on 17 - although I call the album imperfection in my description on my overall chart. Both this and Knock Madness can be stated that all songs (for me) is 10/10
8 songs on ?
15 songs on run (a mixtape I made of all his "past masters")
= 44.
That's how I thought about it, at the moment. But yea, it's a little weird how many perfect songs they've made, imo.

Feedback welcomed in this thread, even (or maybe especially) if it's "What?!? You picked that as a perfect song?!?" |
Thanks
