Yes' 1980s self reinvention was a commercial success, but lacked the authenticity that made Yes Yes. Of course, that happened to a lot of bands around that time, and as disappointing as this was as a Yes album, other once proud bands would stray much further in the '80s.

When I worked their concert this summer, they didn't play any songs from this album, which surprised me a little bit; I was glad I got to hear mostly stuff from the 70s.

This ablum is absolutely brilliant!
There is no other way to describe it.
On this site, when members discuss, "underated" albums; this is one of them.
It is so fantastic, and is an amazing production, that still sounds fresh (although less complex
in structure than previous YES albums) and leaves me craving for more once I listen to it.
Lets backup a bit: I'm sure we can all agree that YES created 3 progressive rock masterpieces in 1971-1972.
(the yes album, closer to the edge, fragile). After the 10th album in 1980, Drama, the music was sounding
stale, dated and repetitive. Because of this, the band disbanded after the album tour: specifically
Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.
Fast forward to 1983-the remaining YES members acquired a south african guitarist. With this new member, the band decided to adapt a more commercial and pop oriented musical direction. More importantly, Jon Anderson
accepted the invitation to return and be the lead vocals. OMG.
This was the turning point!!!
As an appetizer, the album starts off with "owner of a lonely heart" which happens to be the biggest YES hit EVER, as well as being the best selling YES album EVER.
And now, for the rock extravaganca.
" Hold on, It can Happen, Changes, Leave it". These 4 songs hold their own against any other 4 songs in the music business.
For me, this album is a 9/10. Its that good.
