Twin Fantasy is one of the most consistent albums of 2018 and Beach Life in Death is a good song from this album. But not the best. I have already nominated the one that is for me the best of the album (Famous Phophet Stars, eliminated) and Beach Life in Death has no chance against Spells which is for me the best song of Jenny Hval and one of my favorites of 2018.

I would likely vote for 'Spells' regardless of opposition, but man I hate Car Seat Headrest so much. People (not you people; IRL people) need to stop recommending his shit to me just because I like music. His shit is shit. It's boring and shit. I bet he's a bad person. On the other hand, I know Jenny Hval is a good person. She always does one of these bangers per release. Know all the love we gave to Holter this album? Can we give that to Hval next time? Pretty cool seeing Jenny Hval kick Car Seat Headrest's ass so far. Love a good underdog. I like Car Seat Headrest. They are a good (if overrated & inconsistent) indie rock band. BUT i saw no reason for this album existence as I mentioned in my music diary.
Spells does exactly what its title says for its 6 minute run time. Between this and the Julia Holter tracks intelligent & beguiling art pop was alive & well in 2018. Listening to the rest of her The Long Sleep EP rn & its equally awesome.
Car Seat Headrest is overhated in this tournament and I'm honestly baffled. When it comes to voting, I really don't care about how cool/original the band is or how necessary this re-recording was. Really digging the direction Jenny Hval's going... hope she continues to collaborate with the Dutch and Norwegian jazzers. Long Sleep was one of my favorites from last year. Really think she can do no wrong
