I can't in good faith vote for a 50 year old man rapping, "you so basic with your vape stick". _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
And yet I got into both selections quite a bit. In the end though, I had to conclude the DJ went on too long for what it was and pulled the lever for Mr. Cube.
I enjoyed DJ Koze's album quite a bit, and this song is one of the standouts. Gets my vote over a song that was better than I expected but still had one of the corniest hooks I've ever heard. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.
And that's not even the full-length version of the track. Full version is about 10min.
Oddly, I actually do think Ice Cube's age hinders the track. If he had made it 15-20 years ago (different times, diff president, whatever, etc... regardless) I'd think a little more highly of it. As it is, it's a little corny. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!
If nobody had never heard of Ice Cube and didn't see him performing the song, would anybody know that it was a 50 year old? And why does it matter? Does reaching a certain age mean you are no longer allowed to be disillusioned and you no longer allowed to protest? Does anyone complain when Dylan or Neil Young come up with a new song with a social message?
And it would seem obvious that the current President should be the most viable target of such, far more so than any President past.
