Just wondering if you have any recommendations for music (songs/albums/artists) that utilize a 12-string guitar. Of any kind, of any genre.

This is different, but also an interesting example:

Then I think The Beatles also use it in Norwegian Wood... It's a beautiful instrument.

Hey it's been a while haha. Hope everyone's alright! I still pass by to lurk once in a while, but even that I've not done much in recent times sadly... I guess this weird coincidence of a thread is a reminder that maybe I should say hi Smile

My favorite album from the last few months (which I really obsessed over, which is something I very rarely do) happens to feature a lot of 12-string guitar, played by the singer Serge Fiori:

Si On Avait Besoin D'Une Cinquième Sai... Harmonium

It's by no means obscure though and you may have heard it already, but I guess it'll make a fine contribution to the thread anyway. It's from Québec, and it's prog-folk with some very nice woodwind parts as well. The lyrics are in French but tbh even I have a hard time understanding some of them. They're not very important though imo, they just serve as a nice background for the incredible music. Like seriously if I even cared about my chart anymore this would go straight to the top 10. Not sure yet for how long, but it's not really something I've ever considered while making charts anyway lol

There is a good chunk of 12-string guitar on "Dixie", which would be the most immediate song of the record, and one that has skyrocketed to being one of my favorite tracks of all time.

But really nice thread anyway. I've listened to Robbie Basho for the first time not so long ago, so I guess this can be useful as a basis to look further into that kind of things Smile

I was gonna make a joke about two 6-strings in one but then I realized this motherlover is actually playing a 12-string

Laughing Laughing I was literally on the verge of posting yesterday that they were probably busting some pretty sweet Jimmy Page in Romanelli's dairy and you wouldn't want to sleep on that, but then I got shy since I found this account only yesterday and had to ask albummaster to activate it

Here's a few 12 string favorites in songs that were very popular:

The intro is all Don Felder on 12 string, and he plays it through most of the song:

The biggest part of the sound of The Byrds was Roger McGuinn's use of the 12-string:

David Gilmour's intro here is on a 12 string:

Tom Petty used a lot of 12 string. Like this one...

Also, these songs feature the instrument:

Space Oddity (David Bowie)
More Than A Feeling (Boston)
Maggie May (Rod Stewart)
A Hard Day's Night (The Beatles)
Hurricane (Bob Dylan)
Closer To The Heart (Rush)

Thanks for the replies guys, I genuinely didn't know about some of the more well known songs listed here.

Somewhat curiously coincidental, the radio station I work at reviewed and introduced an album that relies heavily on 12-string guitar very recently:

A Slovene band ŠKM banda use the 12-stringer frequently, and I particularly love this track from their last album:
