Sorry for the misunderstanding, Hayden. I adore four of those five Youtube bands you posted (with NMH being #4 on my chart, and Grizzly Bear at #85). Though that's not what I mean by "indie folk". I'm talking about those soft, Starbucks-drunk bands from 2007 onwards that all sound the same. It's like those CG movies about penguins; having just Happy Feet (or Fleet Foxes) would be alright, but everyone and their dog wants to be like them.

Oh, good Angel

So you don't like the Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes, Microphones, Bright Eyes sort of 'Baroque Folk' stuff. Meh, fair enough. I still like those, but I ca understand why someone wouldn't.

I like your use of the words 'Starbucks-drunk bands' btw Laughing

There's exceptions to almost everything, but my list is:
Top 40-oriented pop/"diva" singers
Country
Rap
modern R&B
Heavy Metal and everything heavier
Pure club-style dance music
70s guitar rock
"Hair band" heavy metal - their ballads can be okay though
Experimental music like Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica...hard to call it music as opposed to experimenting with sound.

I was going to say hair metal... but even that has its place at the right times, mainly because of the cheese factor though, so I don't think there is a whole genre I really hate.

trip hop is one of the highest quality, most influential scenes since its inception. They don't just have the obvious picks like Portishead, Massive Attack, and Tricky but direct influences include DJ Shadow and Bjork among others.

I also believe the concepts behind dubstep (groups like Burial, Kode9, and Pinch) could really shake up music in a good way. Dubstep is not just bass drops!

Actually, I've listened to Bjork, DJ Shadow, AND Burial, and I'm not a fan of any of them (I actually hate the third, in fact).

Skrillex isn't dubstep you know. It's just a marketing ploy.
