Allright since the last song tournament was a strapping success despite mine and Jimmy's attempts at humilating users with passive-aggressive large font I decided to try and do one by decade, since they are a lot easier than polls and it's easier to get most users involved since listening to a single song is easier than trying to get into a full album, so what the hell before we get ready for our near 2010's look back let's see how it goes for a Best Song of the Naughty Aughties. Basic rules are it has to be released in some format during the 2000s, although if it's a song off an album or ep that was released previously before, let's say, 1997, will be the cutoff, so no Just Like Honey sorry LIT fans. And individual tracks, no compositions, you get that Kool Keit... oh yeah RIP <sadface>. Anybody else have suggestions this is an open thread ,so speak your mind. Otherwise nominate four songs that look good on the dance floor, or if there's not much intrest I'll let this die slowly like Nu Metal. No Simple Plan.

6 songs limit, for now

Oh boy. How to capture a decade in just four tracks? I'll need a bit of time to decide. Good tournament idea.

I know that when it comes to faves anytime past the 1970s, I share little with most BEA regulars, I'll share anyway, just so I can spread a little love to some great music:

Lacuna Coil - Our Truth (from the album Karmacode, 2006)
Brian Culbertson - Always Remember (from the album Bringing Back the Funk, 2008)
Kansas - Myriad (from the album Somewhere to Elsewhere, 2000)
Transatlantic - Duel with the Devil (from the album Bridge Across Forever 2001)*

*not sure whether this is a rules violation. It is a 26 +minute suite with multiple movements, but it does appear on the CD as a single track.

Man, there are like 20 songs that I feel I should include. Going with a combination of my favorites and songs I think represent the decade well.

LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
At the Drive-In - Invalid Litter Dept
Wilco - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
Sufjan Stevens - The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!
Jens Lekman - Your Arms Around Me

Was dancing a metaphor? Or is this really a dance thread... sorry, my binary opposition is in place. I should probably vote for the last option cuz I'm a square.

No but for real are these top dance tracks of the 00s or just best tracks of the 00s?

It's an Arctic Monkeys reference. Just nominate your four favorites regardless of how danceable they are.

I guess I'll still get on my dancing shoes. (awkwardly continuing on the reference, for a different song, on the same album) Laughing

And yes, I agree there's a lot of artists out there with that amazing stand out track or sometimes it's that one song that pulls you into their whole discography.
