Interesting chart, with a lot of varied styles difficult to pigeonhole – which is what I desire from a chart.

I can give kudos to two underrated masterpieces here – Lush’s Gala and Renaissance’s Turn of the Cards. The latter, though generally though of as a “progressive” record, actually sounds more like the “Lilith Fair” artists of the 1990s than, say, Joni Mitchell. Tori Amos’ ‘Winter’ also sounds remarkably like ‘Mother Russia’. Possibly people overlook this because the politics of Betty Thatcher’s poetry is not exactly politically correct for 1990s female artists, but then neither is Patti Smith’s with its frequent religious references.
