D'angelo, even if it's maybe his 5th or 6th best song from the album still beats nearly everything else around, including Killer Mike's decent effort here
Great album match-up and would be really hard to choose between the two if it were an album match-up. If it had been Sugah Daddy or Really Love, would've been a tough track match-up for me. And while I appreciate the incredibly complex arrangements of The Charade, they do nothing for me heart. So easy win for Killer Mike here for me. Speaking of alternate takes from good albums, curious where Reagan would've landed on this tourney vs this song choice...
There's something about this simplistic yet banging beat and tune - the lyrics that were posted earlier/flow/delivery of them... idk. I don't listen to this track every day, but probably 8 times out of 10 when I do put it on, it gives me chills.
Also this fan made video of the performances is pure musical history bliss:
Vote to D'Angelo, even though I like this Killer Mike song (although I'm bored of his career reinvention and just want him to return to soulful, dirty South street rap at this point).
Side note: D'Angelo on the Black Messiah tour is the single greatest gig I've ever attended. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
