I've only made a 1990 chart so I'm moving onto '91, and I've heard A LOT of metal in '91 (I recently posted about checking out a live Slayer album) and it just now dons on me that my favorite album of 1991 is Death Certificate by Ice Cube, and I've hardly checked out any hip hop from 1991. I might have to do that because I think my chart will just end up with a shitton on metal like some of my other charts. |

Well I guess I just can't fight the metalhead inside me. Now that I'm playing the new Ulcerate (their best hands down) I'm looking into more death metal, and when I'm on a metal marathon I'm unstoppable. I once got trough 70 power metal albums in less than three weeks because of that. I might want to do more death metal. I know I've heard at least 200 albums for power metal and black metal, but death metal is still FAIRLY new to me. I guess that's my big project for a while. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

I just now realized something. When I watch movies, I usually watch them for a take on philosophy. I enjoy the good popcorn flick now and then, but with music it's different. Music and philosophy are easy to connect with lyrical content, but it's easier to classify them by genre. How often do we really classify them by philosophy or approach, or the mood that they put us in? I think that deserves more exploration from a chart making basis. This way, our charts can be more than just ranking discographies and external magazine year lists.
A good example of this is the difference between, say, Suffocation and Insomnium. Both are death metal, but Suffocation is bent on total aggression and Insomnium are lighter and more thought-provoking on not just a progressive/melodic sense, but it's a charm that can be connected with softer bands of softer genres despite the extreme sound. In this way, Insomnium can be connected with a softer prog metal band like Dream Theater, and even to a softer rock band like some alternative acts on the radio. Who knows? Maybe their aura and philosophical touch can even be lumped in with Switchfoot.[/i] _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

I need good albums for coffee and tea. Whenever one needs to relax or wake up, a good cup of either is paramount when getting serious. Coffee, however, is usually associated with energy and awakening, and tea is associated with sleepytime and comfort. Coffe and tea are like yin and yang, and there are perfect albums for both. Recommend me some for a couple of good custom charts! I may or may not have heard them already, but I want to hear what you have to say.
As it stands, my number one tea album is Souvenirs d'un autre monde by Alcest. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

I really like the idea of theme charts, but I'd like to ask people for some help and recommendations so I can make these charts true to the theme. So far, I've only got a few because I'm still practicing the idea, but music is a very thematic subject (which is why it's an art form), and I'd like to address it more often. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

I think I'm going to start focusing on one chart a week or until its finished. Right now I still need to work on my power pop chart. I adore power pop, especially New Pornographers. I still need to check out more Matthew Sweet, Pillows, Db's and Toms. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

The Pillows are a Japanese band. Toms had one fairly popular album, and the rest was all underground, but I think their whole catalogue's on Bandcamp.
Most people who know them would know the debut, but Four Letter Words is a great intro: https://thetomspowerpop.bandcamp.com/al...tter-words (comes with two bonus tracks)
I've already added it to BEA. I've got three songs left. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

I really don't want to work on my 2020 chart yet because the best albums of the year are few in number and typically agreed on throughout the internet. I'm working hard to find a hidden gem in this mess of a kickstarter for a new decade but it's a challenge. It really is. My top 5 are practically going to be the top five of Rateyourmusic's 2020 chart, and that fucking sucks. It makes me look like a conformist, but it's my true opinion. This year just hasn't been that great, and my chart isn't going to look exciting at all. Tbh, I haven't been listening to a lot of 2020 albums because it's been so dull for a while. _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802
