After a considerable amount of time (which took approximately as long as listening to one disc of this album) I have successfully added my favorite classical music album to the site.

I've actually got a whole classical music chart if you're interested, though when making the chart, the important thing to me was the pieces themselves, not necessarily the specific performances of them _________________ 2023 Chart

I have a little classical in my chart. My favorite:
Right now I'm continuing through the 9 Symphonies of Beethoven, also conducted by Karajan. Apparently, 9 Symphonien was a compilation released shortly after the 9 symphonies were released "individually." _________________ Do it yourself and let me play my music: https://www.besteveralbums.com/thechart.php?c=61802

When I first joined this site I felt the same (I love the musics so much and I want this site to help it come alive so much and I want ALL THE MUSICS).
The rebuttal was this isn't just a music site, rather an album site, which more or less was invented with the LP... kinda... in like 1948. So it's a focus on the album era, which kinda could be argued is less formatted for classical music (because not only do you have the composer
So of course that isn't necessarily a fair statement, but the one made, since the recording industry is massive when it comes to recording classical performances. Which of the 10k recordings of Beethoven's 5th do you want to listen to? I joke, but therein lies the complexity as well to recorded classical music.
The only site I feel who has done classical music well is AllMusic.com (it's not perfect though) for non-Early music era stuff. Medieval.org was a great resource for pre-baroque music. Even RYM got it's database all screwed up and they tried to rectify it and it's just a mess now (confusing composer with performer, etc. all the time). TalkClassical is ok- but not really great for rating/database, etc. They often have to use google sites to post something useful and then reference it.
Anyway, as Rocky pointed out there's quite a few charts including his (just type in classical in the search button and you'll probably see a bunch of lists).
I also second Rocky - it is incredibly difficult to find the "perfect" recording. What makes classical music so exciting (to me) is it's always "live" so perfecting the dynamics, tone, and 800,000 other aspects of music we consciously often dismiss is near impossible. So that's what makes the different recordings exciting. I usually find them different, not superior, especially when it's world class recording artists/orchestras/performers/record companies.
I'll also give a shameless reference to my "classical" listening log (also at times referred to "art music" as to avoid confusion with the classical period) here:
https://www.besteveralbums.com/phpBB2/v...hp?t=19692
Which is nearing a close - only 80 albums left to review!!! Pretty exciting when I started out with 858 albums to post about.
Also AfterHours has a great resource here too:
https://www.besteveralbums.com/phpBB2/v...hp?t=15098
I think I spent like 20-50 hours adding classical albums to the site on these lists and gave up because it is a lot of work for the modern/20th century period I'm doing right now:

This is a period I know very little about, so I'm happy to see this especially. _________________ I wanna take Sean Penn
