I have twice as many US albums as UK ones in my collection but I think if I were to look at it objectively, it would be the UK. The US' most revered artists are not bands but solo artists, Dylan, Hendrix, Elvis, Prince, Robert Johnson, various rappers, etc.

Apart from "DE STAAT" there are no good bands in the Netherlands

the brits take it in my opinion, even if they haven't always been the best, they have always been the biggest - beatles, stones, kinks, zeppelin, floyd, the who, the clash, oasis, radiohead - and even canada - rush, the guess who, neil young, the tragically hip, arcade fire - has a comparable line-up to the US - the doors, aerosmith, hendrix, pixies, nirvana, pearl jam, white stripes

I used to think UK, as I suppose they have more of the "bigger" bands overall. But the more music I listen to, the more I'm seeing the unending breadth of great music coming out of the U.S. I'm not saying it doesn't exist in other places, but just in personal opinion I'd go U.S. now.
