Very cool indeed. But I liked their sophomore album even more.

I like this very very much, but don't really love it. I feel all three albums of theirs are somewhat equal, with Third probably being my slight favourite. _________________ All time

Dummy stands as one of four outstanding and groundbreaking “rock” albums from the first half of the 1990s. The others being Slint’s Spiderland, Talk Talk’s Laughing Stock, and best of all but least-known Sky Cries Mary’s This Timeless Turning from the same year as Dummy. I offer my thoughts on these albums, and a few others, here and on the previous page.
Whereas rap of the time was taking the melody out of soul music of the 1970s, Dummy was expanding it, creating a more melodic, atmospheric, and powerful sound than had ever been seen before. The first four tracks of Dummy are as breathtakingly beautiful as anything on the other three albums mentioned at the beginning of this post, and I do see a lighter side in mishearing ‘It Could Be Sweet’ as “you don’t get summer for nothing” given that I hate hot weather and know the huge costs it causes in Australia in terms of bushfires and greenhouse gas emissions.

This was the first album I ever listened to solely because of BEA. Good memories. _________________ I wanna take Sean Penn
