The gist/ rules:
BEA composes a list of our 100 favourite films of the 1990s. (Again! V2!). Remember walking into Blockbuster? I do. Cracking open that plastic VHS case. Rewinding the tape. Remember that? Rewinding a movie? And then the tape got all tangled up and who knows what you were watching and OMG SOMETHING'S ON FIRE I didn't mean to set it on fire my god they're going to charge me an overdue fee maybe I just shouldn't return this and nobody will know— I'll go into hiding! Yes! That's what I'll do. Nobody will know A Bug's Life caught fire— not the Blockbuster manager, not the government, not the FBI, nobody! I'll runaway to the woods where they'll never find me, construct a shelter, a new life! How would they ever track me? Fitbit isn't a thing yet. Ah, the prospects! It's perfect.
All lists will be PMed to me or posted in this thread, maxing out at 100. The final list will be 100 films. I'll be accepting lists of any denotation up to 100. The size of your list determines its weight. Films must be longer than 40 minutes. Films must have an international premiere date between January 1st 1990 and December 31st 1999. Don't throw in something stupid, and we're all good. No fighting.
Documentaries are allowed. Miniseries (i.e. The Civil War) are not. Comedy specials will not be accepted either. Live concerts will be discouraged, but not banned.
The Original List
Lists will also be accepted in IMDb and Letterboxd format. Deadline will be OCTOBER 17th.
Ineligible Releases:
The Civil War (1990)
Cowboy Bebop (1998)
Pride & Prejudice (1995)
Twin Peaks (1990)
The Beatles Anthology (1995)
Serial Experiments Lain (1998)
Baseball (1994)
OK Computer (1997)
House of Cards (1990)
Fishing With John (1991)
Food (1993)
A Close Shave (1995)
Histoire(s) du cinéma (1988) (This is noted due to the fact it appears on our original 90s list... somehow...)
Eligible Releases:
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Hoop Dreams
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
Blue
The Kingdom
Notes:

For reference, this is the old list we're updating: https://letterboxd.com/besteverfilms/li...f-the-90s/
Yeah I recall plastic VHS cases, having to rewind them. I also remember my folks buying blank VHS tapes so they could record movies and shows. Good times. Anyway, I'll whip up a 90s watchlist and get something in. Also curious to unearth my list from the first poll. I wonder how outdated that looks now, haha.

Will edit into the thread post I think this could be a notable overhaul. I'm expecting we'll see at least 35-40 films swap out, and a decent shuffle among what remains.
And thanks BozoTyrannus, you'll be the first one on the list . My own list is about 115 films long and I need to... well... cut 15 films. Somehow. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

My personal watchlist for the poll—
Flowers of Shanghai (1998)
The Green Mile (1999)
Boys Don't Cry (1999)
My Name Is Joe (1998)
Cure (1997)
The Watermelon Woman (1996)
Love Letter (1995)
Good Men Good Women (1995)
Carlito's Way (1993)
The Puppetmaster (1993)
Jurassic Park (1993)
A Tale of Winter (1992)
The Room (1992) (bar Wavelength, the slowest film I've ever seen— also, it's pretty good)
Orlando (1992)
The Story of Qiu Ju (1992)
The Blue Kite
And I just got around to watching Exotica (1994) for the first time last night. I'm not sure why, but for some reason I thought I'd already seen it, so I just... never got around to it (it was okay, I think it would've been better 25 years ago) _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

BTW, I think I posted this somewhere a long time ago, but here's my mostly 90s reference list again.
(Of course Ed is at #1 but the rest are totally random.)

Legit about 10 on there I might just add to the queue. I've never seen Clueless, Babe, Belly, Flubber, etc... the 90s were definitely something.

Yes! Absolute must see. It will be somewhere in my top 5 for certain.
I just made quite a watchlist myself. Honestly not sure how many I will get to, but we shall see.
