A more ambitious, polished, and maximalist take on their sound, leaning heavily into their previously hinted at disco influence in ways that were loving and fun but also fairly safe and predictable. I feel like this album is at least partly responsible for Chromeo, so it gets marked down for that. Overall, I never hated it, but I also never really got the hype. It's also funny to me that this is probably a lot of people's idea of what house music is, quintessentially, and yet I've never heard a single Daft Punk song at any of the (many, many dozens of) house music nights I've been to over the years. It's pretty great in places, but a bit sickly sweet in one sitting. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

The anime film made for this album probably has played a part in how much of a force of nature in the cultural lexicon this album is. Overall, I just find it one of the most fun and smooth albums I've ever heard. Great to dance or vibe to.

Agreed that this is smoother and more polished than Homework
Personally I prefer Homework as well as their even more polished Random Access Memories, but this one is quality too. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

I'd shill out for Alive 2007 before any of their studio albums, which is a classic. And even then I prefer the less polished Homework. It's just got better moments.

Alive 1997, which I like a lot, was recorded at The Que Club in Birmingham, where me and my mates would frequent jungle and/or garage nights a decade later. It's gone now, unfortunately. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

I'd argue VocalCity by Luomo is better but Discovery is an acceptable classic.

Expected this to get much more praise and positive reactions. Even though I much prefer RAM and this can be a bit of chore to listen to it in it's entirety, it's still a classic for a good reason. Some wonderful tracks throughout. I love Veridis Quo _________________ All time
