If I was forced to vote for a Republican, it would be Ron Paul or maybe, even John Huntsman, but I voted none of the above, (just like in Brewster's Millions). Laughing

I know where most of the Republicans stand, and it ain't where I stand. Not talking

Question: (Besides Naples) who's insane enough to vote for Michelle Bachman? Confused

Hmm...
BO, the progressive, socialist, big-corp-and-union-puppy
or
Michele Bachman, the unintellectual religious whackjob with a laughable law degree from some fringe zealot college in the middle of nowhere.

What a race.

I picked one of the above, as those were the choices, that don't mean I like any of them. If BO is the alternative I would pick him over any of those, but again, that don't mean I think it's a great option.

As has been said before: As long as the nomination process is for sale to the highest bidder there isn't going to be a fair candidate.

First of all, progressive and socialist aren't the exact same thing. That's a slippery slope/ strawman argument that isn't based in reality. I'm guessing you got that from either Fox News or conservative talk radio. (And by the way, the whole purpose of Fox News is to protect big corporate interests Think about who owns it!). Secondly, Most of Obama's policies are neither socialist, nor progressive. Oh, I know! You're going to say"Obama Care," except the only problem with that is, that the health care companies are still making the ones making the money, and there is no public option (hardly socialist). Actually, my beef with Obama is that he hasn't stood up to the republicans enough, or barely at all. Thirdly, the progressive agenda is pretty much the exact opposite of the corporate agenda. The Dems may not be a people's alternative anymore (That's becoming more and more the case), but you are seriously deluding yourself if you believe any of those candidates apart from maybe Ron Paul or maybe John Huntsman are going to do anything but the the bidding of Wall Street, the big banks, and the big corporations. It's like you live in some sort of alternate universe or something. What's it like in your little bubble. Did you see that poll that said most Americans support Occupy Wall Street? That should tell you something. You're in the minority, pal.

Alright, everything is getting a little messy here, I want to try to organize things.

1. Actually, Naples and Fox News are right with that one, progressivism IS essentially just socialism, or at least, "steps towards socialism". The real question is as to whether or not socialism is such a bad thing - I mean, Denmark is socialist, and they're perfectly content with it.
2. Yeah, Naples, you really have no idea what you're talking about. How the fuck could anyone be socialist AND a "big corp puppy"? That's an oxymoron. Those ideals do not intersect. Not at all.
3. Naples is anti Occupy Wall Street... but also ant big corp? Wtf? How the hell does that make a shred of sense? Do you ACTUALLY have a political opinion, or are you just regurgitating bits and pieces of scrap you ate of the newsroom cutting room floor?

Progressivism is just about leveling the playing field, so that the system is more fair and there's more equal opportunity, but it doesn't advocate getting rid of capitalism all together, so no, they're not the same thing. The thing that drives me crazy about the current conservative mentality is, they paint everything in black and white terms, when there are actually many shades of gray.
