Would anyone else be open to just removing "Maxwell Silver Hammer"?
But darn when that's the last album your band puts out. there will not be a single day where fans won't build alternative histories about what would've happened if you had stayed together.
Personally I still prefer Sgt peppers but it's hard to defend it against this masterpiece

I wonder if the cover photo represents the music so well or is now iconic from the music with which it is viewed. When first out people will have been looking at it on a huge record cover while listening to the album for first time. _________________ More needs and less greed

I still adore this album and I never tire of it. I had a family member discover it for the first time lately which resulted in me rotating it heavily in the past few months. Even the songs that are considered lesser on the album like Octopus' Garden and Maxwell's Silver Hammer are among my favorites. Harrison's two songs are probably the album's strongest and McCartney gets a defining moment with some great songs in the famous medley. Abbey Road will probably always be near the top of my favorite Beatles records.
I would've loved to hear a George song in the medley. His playing is incredible during it, but it would've been neat to hear him sing one song on the back half. It could've been even more interesting if it ended up being a track that eventually landed on All Things Must Pass. We obviously wouldn't have known the alternative, but I found myself imagining that when listening to the album recently.

Some days my favourite Beatles album (though usually it's the White Album). I often will listen to the medley on its own, such a breathtaking piece of music. And of course the A-side is no slouch either. I think this has the least amount of middling tracks on it of all their albums - Maxwell's Silver Hammer is probably the only one and I still really like it. This was the lads flexing hard and going out on top, and it's still arguably the greatest swansong in rock history (let's pretend it came out after Let It Be rather than before). _________________ Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by indieshins

I’ve often planned on waking up and going on the daily commute and letting the BEA album of the day soundtrack the journey… I finally started yesterday with Death Cab for Cutie’s Plans, one I haven’t given the choice to listen to in years, and couldn’t help but chuckle when Abbey Road was day number two… a very familiar album, more than likely my favourite Beatles LP.
Well, anyway…! What a great listen. I should listen to “the classics” more. What an incredible release to close your career on. Absolute masters, every single one. Shout out to George, but Paul remains the GOAT here.

Maxwell's Silver Hammer is part of the Beatles silly and surreal aesthetic. It is key to this album, even if it's not "cool".
