Re: Neil --

Really don't see why anyone cares about any of this. Hell, Joni and Neil will probably be back on the platform this time next year, Rogan or no.

Joe Rogan has the biggest podcast on planet earth. Kicking him off Spotify will do next to nothing. Perhaps even less -- I haven't seen Rogan's contract with Spotify, but it's possible that if Spotify reneges on the deal Rogan will just pocket the $100 million, and then become more popular than ever now that his podcast's controversies are front page news. My mother had no idea who Joe Rogan was at Christmas, but she sure as hell knows about him now. So congrats libs, you played yourselves.

I also feel as though in another universe where leftists didn't feel the need to wokescold everyone they come across that it would have been pretty easy to turn a pliable rube like Fear Factor Man into a mouthpiece or at least his show into a sounding board for far-left ideology. I mean, the guy had fucking Tom O'Neill on to talk about MKULTRA ffs, he had Abby Martin on to talk Venezuela, he had Cornel West talking about socialism; I think it's pretty clear this was a missed opportunity.

* * *

Also in reference to all the Brexit and Trump comments, I have to issue the line I always issue here -- fuck the EU, and, once again, Trump wasn't any worse than any of your other shitty string of presidents. The only difference is that that warhawk Clinton probably wouldn't have dropped the ball in Venezuela and Bolivia the same way Trump did.

I agree. I wasn’t disheartened by the result of the referendum because I have any loyalty towards or respect for the EU.

I don't care about Joe Rogan, but blaming liberals for Rogan not being a liberal doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. He also had Alex Jones and other right-wing types on his show.

This is objectively untrue. If you just go by how many people he killed (his lack of aid to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and his deliberate bungling of the first six months of the pandemic), it's true that George W. Bush gave him a run for his money (Iraq War). But there's no equivalence between him and any other president since Nixon. I mean, the dude asked the Defense Department to seize voting machines in swing states! Because of him, there's a real possibility that if a Republican gets elected president in 2024 the US will become an autocracy.

Oh, fully agreed. After all, every other U.S. president has encouraged a crowd of supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol on the day his successor was to be certified, and then sat back and done fuck-all while that crowd loudly called for the violent death of everyone in the building, including his own vice president ...

Wait, hold on. Sorry - it turns out that DT was, in fact, the only president who's done that. So kindly take that wasn't-any-worse bullshit to 4chan where it belongs. Thanks much and good day.

Damn...
Here in Chile the truckers are protesting in 2 different places in the country for issues similar to those exposed by OP:
North of the country: Massive illegal immigration from Venezuela.
South of the country: Terrorist attacks (fires, murders, etc.) from guerrilla groups.

The group of truckers in the north also accused the UN of meddling for the benefit of illegal immigration, and although no one believed the truckers, now the UN is building shelters to bring people in illegally and keep them there. Now people believe truckers.

The group of truckers in the south are also protesting the "health pass" measures to the people in our country, measures that have also affected my personal life (I only have 1 dose and it was for experimental reasons) preventing me from traveling to other regions (states), enter restaurants and a long etc.

I think it's a weird time to be alive... Neutral

PS: Also, to add salt to the wound, our next newly elected president (Gabriel Boric) is a person from the extreme left, who said that he will open the borders completely and that he will "dialogue" with the guerrillas of the south... Lovely...

What exactly would American autocracy look like? Would it be McCarthy/HUAC-style show trials like under Truman and Eisenhower? Forcing poor young men to fight in imperialist wars like under Johnson and Nixon? Mass surveillance like under Bush and Obama? The blueprint for an American autocracy has existed for at least a hundred years -- but I care more about how, in that same century, they've had their hand in installing autocratic governments in other countries. Ask the Hondurans, the Chileans, the Brazilians, etc. etc. etc. if they give a rat's ass about the persistence of "American democracy," or whether the victims of those regimes think Trump was an aberration from American politics as usual.

1. I don't think Gabriel Boric is from the "extreme" left.
2. Even if he was, would you rather have had Kast win? Because that'd probably be a one-way ticket to bringing back the DINA.
3. He SHOULD open up dialogue with the geurrillas -- you honestly think the Mapuche don't have a leg to stand on here?

This is self-contradictory and erroneous. If Joe Rogan really does have "the biggest podcast on Planet Earth," then whether or not your mom "knows who he is" is the irrelevancy here. One member of your family is not representative of some massive groundswell of untapped popular support that can be directed one way or the other by a single minor controversy.

Meanwhile, Spotify lost a great deal of stock value and market share because of that incident. (Maybe they've clawed their way back by now though, I haven't checked.) If you ask me, the "libs" only played themselves here in the sense that they have far more musical talent, and are therefore more likely to have MP3s and other recordings of themselves that they can play on their smartphones instead of Rogan's podcast.
