Back in the good ole days of BEA, we talked about albums more frequently and in more detail. This was a fun thread if anyone's interested:

Anyway, this album is a special one to me for reasons I've mentioned before. _________________ on such a winter's day

You ever feel like Nirvana discourse is as tired and repetitive as Beatles discourse at this point?

Fantastic album. Interesting contrast from the previous album. _________________ More needs and less greed

I've become tired of Nevermind, but Nirvana continues to surprise me in recent years as I've to grown much fonder of Bleach and Incesticide upon re-visits. As for In Utero, I've talked at length about it on BEA, nothing to add I haven't said already. _________________ on such a winter's day

Yeah, I guess that's my point. Everything that could be said (by our smaller community) has probably been said too many times to be interesting anymore.

I ended up liking this album a lot better when someone lent me their copy of one of the remastered versions, though even with the brighter sound I still had to listen to it through completely scooped EQ. Before that it just sounded like sludge to me, which I suspect was deliberate on the band's part.
I still wouldn't rank it anywhere close to #58 overall, and there are two or three songs on it that maybe should have been relegated to b-sides (if not dumped altogether), but once I could hear the details (not that there are that many) I really did end up liking it.
