Oh wow I was just thinking about Konono Nº1, I need to check this Congotronics album out! Might end up being a tough matchup for me, I do really love this Step by Step song though, so smooth and sweet

That Congotronics track is the greatest organized mess I've heard since free jazz. The whole LP is fantastic and my #1 for '22, but that track...

Liked that Braxe/Falcon track, didn't even know Braxe was still doing anything. Vote for my nom all the same.

pretty easy vote for Step By Step, one of the best songs in the tournament imo.

Both are solid but I have to go with Congotronics, didn't realize they had an album out and I'll definitely be checking it out

I was very surprisingly not in love with that Braxe & Falcon project, but this is the best track off of it by a decent margin. Summer vibes that work year-round type sound, feels very timeless. Also, if I had a nickel for every time Panda Bear appeared on an album by a veteran French house act, I'd have two nickels (etc etc weird that it happened twice etc)

no chance against that Congotronics cut however. The fact that there's an album featuring Konono N°1, Juana Molina, and the Deerhof guy (among plenty others ofc) that I didn't know about is frankly shocking to me. The track scratches an itch deep inside my brain. Certified Norman Bates moment. Album immediately shoots up the wishlist.

vote for Congotronics

Braxe & Falcon ft Panda Bear - Step by Step
For half a year, I chose this track, but due to the lack of a worthy alternative.
It would seem that the Animal Collective brand might outweigh this time too.

Congotronics International - Kule Kule Redux
These musicians are unknown to me and I am not a fan of such music.
The track sounds quite harmonious, despite the apparent chaos.
As usual, I miss the melody and the point of catharsis.
But newer music experiences win this time.
