An unbelievably solid debut. Not only are all the pieces there, but they're practically fully formed. Bruce Springsteen arrives and wastes no time establishing himself as the great chronicler of American fringes, stories of little people stuck in the middle of nowhere with sky high hopes. Beautiful stuff.
