Suggestion: Lower the max album list to 20 (it's a very simple round number). Then use the same general idea the main BEA lists have. People can post 10 or 5 albums if they want, and if it's like 10 albums, go 20 points for #1, 18 for #2, 16 for #3, etc and if it's 5 albums, go 20 for #1, 16 for #2, etc.

These are the ones I've listened to from your list. Gloss Drop and Goblin could make it to a year list, the rest is definitely not going to my top 25, even if I listen to only 25 albums.

So I waited a while before commenting so my rage could subside
I do find it sickening that people who are "passionate" about music either don't listen to much music or couldn't find 25 albums they like (how closed minded must you be?) from this year.
Howeeeeever I obviously do want as many people to vote as possible and to feel comfortable voting. But by the same token it'd be nice to have a decent variety of albums as well; We don't just want The Smile Sessions. Let England Shake & New History Warfare Vol. 2 over and anon - which is what I can see happening if everyone just submits 10.
SO okay you don't have to enter 25 albums and Shane's idea is obviously logical. So to allow for variety people can enter either 10, 20 or 40 albums. Is that Okay? People can find 10 albums yeah?
This also means genre-specific categories will be (optionally) voted upon individually (as Jack suggested) rather than drawn from the overall lists.

I asked myself the same question when I realised how closed-minded some people who thought there was nothing else to listen to then dozens of 2011 albums just to find 25 good ones for a poll could be. Can't anyone be "passionate" about music but not restrictively 2011 music ? I am listening to my fourth LP of the day right now (Beauty and the Beat by Go-Go's), and still not one from this year. I suppose I'll go and whip myself just after this delicious LP.
I don't want to sicken you by the way. I will therefore not participate in any way. I don't feel I belong to the happy few who are "passionate" enough about music to have listened to 25 great albums of 2011.

Norman I spent the majority of this year "discovering"/"re-discovering" older music. Ilistened to over 550 albums from the 90s (and then most of them at least twice over). So im obViously not saying people shoould only listen to new music.
I'm sorry if I offended you Norm (can I call you you Norm?), I merely stated how I felt (as you very well did earlier on in the thread). It is frustrating though considering the rules were mainly changed for your sake.

aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyywwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy
I guess I'd like to open voting as soon as possible to give everyone lotsa room. But another thing I wanted to change from wolf's format is to have a sort of secret ballot. So rather than have everyone posting on the thread so that we can pretty much gauge the results ahead of time, I've created a ballot so that people can enter their choices via that? does that sound okay to everyone? or is the other format preferred?
