It became clear fairly early on, starting with the release of this album (if not earlier), that Factory Records and the surviving Joy Division were not particularly "completist-friendly." They kept expanding this thing, a few tracks at a time, until the current digital version from 2015 which has 19 tracks. Maybe they were just waiting for the more collectible stuff (like the "Komakino" flexi EP) to become unobtainable...? Either way, I basically gave up on Joy Division during the 90s and there are still several tracks on that 2015 version that I've never heard, though I guess I could have listened to them back when I had an Apple Music subscription.

Not sure why I'm mentioning this, other than as a caveat emptor for anyone who's only now taking an interest in these guys. If you already have the two albums, and assuming you don't want to pay more for the Heart & Soul box set, then rather than pick up a used CD version of this somewhere for a fiver, you might want to spend another fiver and get the 9 extra tracks.

The version I used to have had more songs on it but I can't say it was better though cuz it still had too many of those early songs that I never really cared for. But another compilation that came out later called Permanent is almost perfect. It's got everything you want.
