I don't have the spotify but I do keep track of my listening, here's my stats for the year so far
Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.
I listen to music with my wife a lot, and she loves They Might Be Giants and also got into Sparks this year, so they have a major presence. And then the heavy Guided By Voices presence is mostly my own doing (tho I did pull her in for a lot of it but mostly she would just want to listen to Alien Lanes) _________________ 2023 music critic simulator
That sucks. This is a good thread idea. It's interesting/ frightening to see how the music we claim to like compares to the music we actually listen to

Two of the most fun bands of all time. Great discographies to really sink into IMO.
I'm also not on Spotify but Amazon music does a top 50 most played songs of the year.
Assuming this is in order, I got:
1. Blur- The Heights
2. Blur - Goodbye Albert
3. Olivia Rodrigo - vampire
4. Blur - The Narcassist
5. Olivia Rodrigo- love is embarrassing
6. Blur- Barbaric
7. Taylor Swift- Now that we don't talk
8. Mozart Estate- Record Store Day
9. Olivia Rodrigo -get him back!
10. Blur - Russian Strings
I hadn't realised how much I'd listened to the latest Blur. I claimed that Olivia Rodrigo's album was the best of 2023 but maybe it's my second favourite after all.
I also listened to a bunch of Vampire Weekend this year, but that was from my own collection.
I also don't use Spotify with any regularity, but I scrobble pretty much all the music I listen to on last.fm.
Here are my stats so far for 2023:
Total scrobbles: 18,629
That's the lowest year for me since 2016, when I joined last.fm. I'm sure it's because in the past couple years I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts and "The Great Courses" lectures during the times I'd normally be listening to music.
