Here are my fave soundtracks (in no particular order):

A Hard Day's Night
Help!
Let It Be
Magical Mystery Tour
The Sound of Music
Psycho
The Harder They Come
Purple Rain
Superfly
Shaft
Saturday Night Fever
Trainspotting
Dazed and Confused

I'll narrow these down to 10 later.

EDIT: I removed some of the choices, and now there are fewer to choose from. Hmmm, which 3 to remove now? Think

Oh come on - how can you all overlook American Graffiti? It's probably the absolute best soundtrack of all time. I still think so even after moving on from 50s/60s music.

Wedding Singer has a great soundtrack. Clerks was mentioned. Star Wars has good classical-style music. Dazed and Confused was so good they had to put it in two separate soundtracks, and of course the Beatles' albums featured in their movies were good collections, and The Sound of Music was also a great choice. Annie is another musical that had a great collection of tunes (the movie was excellent as well, no surprise given it was directed by John Huston).
