In a former thread, it was debated wheter The Beatles or The Velvet Underground has the most perfect catalog of albums. I want to expand this debate to include all artists of all time. Who do you think have the most perfect catalog of all time?

I think The Rolling Stones, David Bowie & Tom Waits are strong contendors, of which Tom Waits is my personal favourite. _________________ 9.3 Best New Post

To me, there's a lot of medicore (if not bad) albums by The Rolling Stones and David Bowie: "Dirty Work", "Undercover", "Never Let Me Down", "Tonight" etc. I'm not that familiar with Tom Waits.

To me, the perfect catalog belongs to short lived bands. Artists who have been around for a long time will sooner or later start releasing medicore material. Just look at what the 80's did to the great names of rock music.

Indeed, there is no such thing like an artist who has released 4+ albums with a 'perfect' catalog. I named some artists which have been pretty good throughout a whole lot of albums. _________________ 9.3 Best New Post

I can't think of anyoe. Hell, can't even give that to my five favourite bands/acts. The Beatles came close but they had Yellow Submarine and some of the early albums werne't that good, Bowie really sucked in the lare 80's, Queen had a couple of albums that werne't bad but werne't that good, The Human league utterly suck now and The Who didn't do that well after the first half of the 70's
I guess only short bands can have them.
