Well I was also remembering when it first started you me and purple were writing this tense drama and then it kind of just 'turned' could be cool to try for serious again...i dunno.

It is. The days of staring at an album cover while listening to the music on it are long gone. I remember doing that in the 80s, but then, around 1986, came the CD and album art was slowly becoming less relevant until the mp3 appeared when it pretty close to died.
And that, dear friends, is probably the first and last time on this site that I will take a stand for modernism.

Do you miss it? Gazing at the album covers whilst listening to the music?
I do a bit... Part of the anticipation of listening to an album was the cover art. Did it hold a hint to what the album was going to be like? Was it somehow the key? In the past I bought albums solely on the strength of their cover art (without having heard a single song by the band), sometimes I was disappointed, more often than not I wasn't. It was all part of the whole music experience...
Yeah those days are gone...
