Beckett's a genius; check out Malloy, Malone Dies, and The Unnameable; better than Godot for me, but admittedly not as influential.

Also, you should create a single thread for all the books you want to discuss so people don't get pissed off at you, eggman.

And I'm also going to call you out and say that I don't believe you're reading all these books you're posting about, or if you are the thoughts in them are well over your head; this isn't an insult, I just know that a twelve year old cannot grasp the concepts in these books fully, hell I can't unless I go read the literary criticism on the books. That being said you're searching for the right books I think

Making a thread for each book I read? Certainly not. (Though I did read Waiting for Godot just last night.....)

I've heard of The Bald Soprano, but didn't know about the playwright previously, for some reason. Anxious

Oh, you mean Beckett's trilogy (sorta) of novels? Isn't there some collection containing all three novels? If there is one, and if I happen to find it, I will definitely check it out. They sound interesting. Think

And I think I mentioned this before in their threads, but I haven't yet read The Satanic Verses and Finnegans Wake. I explained it in those threads. However, I DID read Waiting for Godot. Did the concepts in it go over my head? I don't know, I just thought it was an entertaining play. Maybe I should go read it again; you know, think about it and all.

Pinter > Beckett (only slightly)

In the absurdist stakes, Beckett has some really out-there plays (Endgame, Play, Breathe etc.) but Pinter's plays are linked to the absurdity of reality and (sometimes) real situations.

I will try to convince my year 11 students this year that both are amazing and they must appreciate them! Or at least expose them to absurdist theatre.
