Do you also think the holocaust was alright, since "it didn't effect you"?

True that, burn them I say

Not really what I expect from music lovers. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
I've been trying to get a grasp on hip hop since day 1. Here's where I'm at so far.
There are some really great lyricists out there. But the window of subject matter has always seemed rather small. And musically, for the most part, hip hop is desperately empty for me. It's not about a group of musicians getting together and creating a song...much of it is a producer putting bare bones backing tracks, usually consisting of a cheap computerized beat and maybe a weak synthesizer loop, on a track and recording the vocal over it. On many songs, you take the rapper away and you have a track that would pout Mel Torme to sleep.
As a musician, that is tough to get past.
Sampling can be an art, but it's mostly rushed and cheap sounding. Speeding up tracks so they sound like chipmunks does not make your music sound better. Blatantly reworking older songs to fit the genre makes you sound like you don't really care too much about what you do.
I'm persevering, though. I quit on hip hop altogether a few years ago, but I'm slowly reopening that door. I really WANT to like it, because the idea of hip hop is great. Take some time on the backing tracks and use some creativity in areas other than lyrics. Don't be satisfied with music that sounds like a cheap porn soundtrack with a beat. There are people who PLAY drums and PLAY bass...utilize them! Your music doesn't have to sound like a computer with one bass note.
I'm saying that hip hop could do a better job. Yes, sites like this are used to rock. Rock is still better musically, and it's hard to convert people from rock to hip hop when the product is not musically up to par.

My observation, my opinion.
Same here Romanelli, I can, and do, relate 2 about every word you wrote.
I have had some BEA members recommend some hip hop and rap that was actually very good. Musically and lyrically.
But, overall, I can listen 2 rock all day long.
But I don't ever think I will be able 2 listen 2 hip hop or rap all day long

You don't see the sarcasm here?
For Romanelli. Don't know if you heard any of the following, but still.. Maybe a bit different to what you're describing
