I just cant crank music like I used to. Home speakers seem to be getting smaller and crappier, and i for some reason for some reason am more sensitive to my neighbors than I used to be.
Music just sounds better on headphones. Here are three that I really like.
GnR- Chineese Democracy. Amazing vocals and layers upon layers of guitar and what not.
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream. You've heard it, you know why.
Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On.

Yeah, Loveless for sure - you lose so much of it when you listen through speakers.
Also - F#A# infinfity and generally a whole lot of atmospheric post-rock works really well with the space thats created by listening through headphones.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is great on headphones, with the stereo effects on the vocals and the lovely fuzzing out of the instruments. Talking Heads - Remain in Light has some really interesting stereo stuff going on as well. Also, any Aphex Twin/Boards of Canada. Any dark moody electronic stuff or IDM really. DJ Shadow - Entroducing works a treat.
F#A#(infinity) is my number one pick though. A complete trip to the end of the earth and off into chaos.

I'll also add doom metal and stoner metal. Such as:
Agalloch - The Mantle
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley

YES! great call. Nothing better than listening to "You Could Feel The Sky" blasting through headphones, late at night. Just puts you on edge.

Superunknown by Soundgarden. Some of the instrumental layers on that album just consume you if you crank them with headphones. Particularly on Kickstand and Fresh Tendrils.
