Just reading about that 'plea' purple made. So, I though about what would be fun as a new topic.

Pitchfork has made lists for individual years, decades, etc..But they've never made one for overall.

So, how about we fill this categories in, with what we think Pitchfork would do.

Best Album of The 60's
Best Song of the 70's
Best Song of the 80's
Best Album Ever
Best Song Ever

Very Happy

I would assume/ guess

60's Album - Velvet Underground & Nico
70's song - Stairway To Heaven (this one was a bit tricky...not sure)
80's song - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Best album - Daydream Nation
Best song - Gold Soundz

You? Razz

(yes, I know, 'who cares?' and stuff, but this could be fun)

Well, in the little opening paragraph, the head pitchfork guy said that Revolver's ego was getting out of hand, so I would say that would be their top pick because of that, but Pet Sounds would be close I bet.

Best song of the 70s: "Heroes" (they love themselves some Bowie)
Best song of the 80's: Teen Age Riot
Best album of all time: Daydream Nation (I would put Low at 2)
Best song: God Only Knows

Ain't the overall chart on this site quite similar to their taste?

Read it again. It's rating the 40th anniversary edition as a release rather than the album itself.

They had 2 songs from Pet Sounds in their top 10 songs of the 60's....2! of the whole decade. they also stated in their end of decade spiel "We get that 500 is a lot of them [referring to songs of the decade]; after all, we only listed 200 songs from the 1960s and that's, like, The Greatest Time in Pop Music History."

not that that confirms Pet Sounds but I think they'd definitely have a 60's #1[/i]

Apparently Pitchfork can't be judged by their ratings. They gave Before and After Science by Brian Eno a 7.7 and included it in their top 100 from the 70s, yet they didn't include Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen despite the fact that they gave it a perfect 10.
