If the double albums were / are rare in time, yet are unique triple albums. Here are a few famous 3x (studio) albums:

George Harrison/All Things Must Pass (1970)
Carla Bley/Escalator over the Hill (1971) (My chart)
Frank Zappa/Joe's Garage (1979)
The Clash/Sandinista! (1980)
The Smashing Pumpkins/ Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995)
The Magnetic Fields/69 Love Songs (1999)

I know Crystal Ball was 3-4 discs (depending on the version). Prince has had some long albums over time.

Don't own any triple albums.

Besides the ones already mentioned (kudos to Norman especially for mentioning Have One On Me), here are 2 more great triple albums:

1. How the West Was Won - Led Zeppelin (CD)
2. The Concert for Bangladesh - George Harrison and Friends (LP)

I have only two of them both by George Harrison: All things must pass and The concert for Bangladesh. I'll stick with the studio album which was brilliant, one of the best Beatles solo records if not the best.

NIN-The Fragile

Just listened to it the other day, and decided that it might be the greatest triple album ever made.
