anyone want to go with this? If not, we can all post clips for this entry (a 'wild card'?) |
No Ramones in the main team
An haven't you already had too goes as well! |
That's actually a really great team, although I wish Patti Smith had been squeezed in somewhere

...you like Karnivool? I feel they'd be too much like A Perfect Circle, and I figured you'd hate A Perfect Circle because you hate Tool. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.

I just spent the last 40mins finding out where my favourite New Zealand bands come from... Turns out they come from.
All Over The Fucking Country
Can't seem to get a five that I am happy with
Maybe I should do another foreign city

Well, considering the city I nominated has a higher population than your entire country, maybe you could be allowed to nominate New Zealand as a whole? _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.

Well Norman did Dunedin so I am not sure that it would be fair

Atlanta is pretty weak though so I nominate the nearby city of Macon, GA, a small city of 90,000 people that is (with a bit of squeezing) the origin of these:
- The Allman Brothers Band (although formed in Jacksonville, FL, they soon relocated to Macon, GA, and remained there until the death of Duane).
- Otis Redding (born in nearby Dawson but moved to Macon at age three).
- Little Richard (born in Macon).
- R.E.M. (actually formed in nearby Athens, GA, but both Bill Berry and Mike Mills grew up in Macon).
Reserve: Randy Crawford (born in Macon). |
This will probably need to change. They formed in Athens and are more well known for that. |
Yeah I know. Didn't think anyone would do Athens though (damn it Cellar). Move Randy to team member and put Young Jeezy (never heard him to be honest but my daughter apparently likes him) or the brilliant jazz/blues singer Lucille Hegamin as reserves in case those who are more familiar with Y.J. would recommend that he is not material for this contest.

I have an unused second nomination if there are more open slots and would happily use it to make sure NYC is included. It should be.

Well, unless Joy's version of NYC goes through, mine would look pretty similar but with one replacement to not completely focus on the punkish part of it:
The Velvet Underground
Sonic Youth
Public Enemy
Thelonious Monk (although born in North Carolina moved to NYC at age 5 and remained there)
Reserves:
The Ramones
I don't really like Sonic Youth myself but I assume they should be in there. If there's a clear majority for it I'd nominate Joy's lineup as is but I think it would give a more narrow picture of all that city is musically.
