Wladyslaw Spzilman. I never did see The Pianist, but his work is incredible... Pretty much anyone from the Eastern Europe/Slavic/Russian classical scene- best pianists on the planet, would have my vote for piano playing.

chris, no need to curse. and definition of favorite:
darling, a special loved one
anyway, you just picked pianists that will make you look like you know more about music. _________________ "The future is unwritten."

Firtst off, Sorry about taking all of them i wasn't just picking ones to look like i knew more about music i just had never thought about who one favorite was before so i just listed the ones that i love
Second, I'll add Lennie Tristano to my list so that makes 8 for me
In conclusion sorry again its just so hard to choose only one, but since you insist ill go with Cecil Taylor, i love his approach to the piano its very different from most other players. At first his music seems very atonal, but then you realize that he is using the piano as much as a percussive instrument as he is a melodic one
BTW i wasn't cursing the F stands for Fooey, but also whats with the personal attack about only listing them to seem smart? considering the piano is the most popular instrument of all time 7 favorites really isn't unreasonable, especially since you didn't specify how many we should pick
