Well, the new "Where do you rank the Beatles" thread made me think of this.
This is all your opinion. Etc. I think that the Velvet Underground were the better/ more influential/ my favourite band ever.
Some people think it's the Beatles, who I also like quite a lot.
And, some facts and crap:
Rolling Stones: Beatles #1, Velvet Underground #19
AVRev: Beatles #2, Velvet Underground #88
Scaruffi: Beatles ('Not forgotten to be ignored'), Velvet Underground #1
VH1: Beatles #1, Velvet Underground #24
BEA: Beatles #1, Velvet Underground #10
This poll is all in good fun. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Well I'm just not a Velvet Underground fan. Not yet, at least.

Scaruffi: Beatles ('Not forgotten to be ignored'), Velvet Underground #1
Scaruffi wrote: If somebody had not invented "beatlemania" in 1963, you would not have wasted five minutes of your time to read a page about such a trivial band. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNGpsnTCUXM

VU are the better band, with a wider musical range, experimenting way more than the Beatles (the White album is a mess anyway). Their first 4 albums are completely different and groundbreaking in their own way. _________________ I'll be your plastic toy.

Recently realised how much I've fallen out of love with VU. I never liked the 3rd or the 4th album and though I initially loved WL/WH the most I now don't like/listen to it and VU+N is rapidly sliding down in my esteem. I think I just find them cold and emotionless now.
I think The Beatles had plenty of great albums, sounds, cultural influence and they didn't have Squeeze to their name. So The Beatles by a big margin.
(and ffs cartoken, edit your post)

Anybody who analyses and and enjoys music objectively and has their critical faculties intact, can possibly rate the Beatles as anything other than a bunch of second-rate musicians at worse or average musicians at best. To put them up against the Velvet Underground is simply a joke.
