I'm not sure how many of you are going to watch, but make some predicitons if you do. So here are mine:

(Bolded/Colored are my first round winners)

West

(1) Vancouver Canucks
(8) Chicago Blackhawks

(2) San Jose Sharks
(7) Los Angeles Kings

(3) Detroit Red Wings
(6) Phoenix Coyotes

(4) Anaheim Ducks
(5) Nashville Predators

East

(1) Washington Capitals
(8) New York Rangers

(2) Philadelphia Flyers
(7) Buffalo Sabres

(3) Boston Bruins
(6) Montreal Canadiens

(4) Pittsburgh Penguins
(5) Tampa Bay Lightning

Stanley Cup Final:

(2) San Jose Sharks - 3
(3) Boston Bruins - 4

Conn Smythe: Tim Thomas

Dark Horse(s): Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators (If their respective goalies get hot, I would not be surprised if either one went really far.)

Maybe you could add a poll to this thread.

The only way I could do that is if the "Other" category would inlcude about half of the teams. I do not really want to do that.

That is true it would. O well, I love hockey. I'm going to enjoy the playoffs.

Agreed. I love playoff hockey. It's what makes me either love or hate players. The West is going to be crazy good.

Philly is going to be a scary team again too.

I'll be watching all the Blackhaws games through the playoffs, as I have through the regular season. After they, sadly, get kicked out in the first round I'll keep watching it as there is no sport that can compare to playoff hockey (the regular season can be a bit flat sometimes).

Here are my predictions:

WESTERN CONFERENCE
CANUCKS beat Blackhawks (a shame but very, very likely)
SHARKS beat Kings
COYOTES come from behind and beat Red Wings
PREDATORS beat Ducks

CANUCKS beat Coyotes
PREDATORS beat Sharks

CANUCKS beat Predators

EASTERN CONFERENCE
CAPITALS beat Rangers
FLYERS beat Sabres
BRUINS beat Canadiens
PENGUINS beat Lightning

PENGUINS beat Capitals
FLYERS beat Bruins

FLYERS beat Penguins

STANLEY CUP
CANUCKS beat Flyers in a tight series that goes to all seven games.

I think the Canucks are in for a rude awakening come playoff time. I don't know if they can play with the same intensity as the teams that were battling for a spot for months. The game that they said would be a test for how they would play during the playoffs, they lost 2-0 to the Oilers.

I do love Nashville going to the Conference Finals though.

I still think that the Canucks will play Philly for the cup. The problem isn't there defense, they are THE best defensive team. But they are obviously going to have to start putting the puck in the net more in the playoffs.

I live in Florida now and we have 2 NHL teams and nobody down here cares. All they care about here is college football. I lived in Nashville for a few years and they love having a hockey team. The Predators do have a good team this year. Tampa Bay has a good team but few people down here even know that.

Well the Canucks were the top scoring team this season, as well as the best defensively. They are a really good team, but I have not seen them playing a playoff-like game, more grinding and scraping for goals. They could hit a wall in the playoffs.

Nashville always seems to be a surprising team every year. They don't have a bonified star forward, and they basically win by a team commitee. They could have gone up 3 games to 2 on Chicago last year, if it weren't for an errant pass that changed the series. Rinne has probably been the best goalie this year, so a playoff run by them would not surprise me.

It is too bad most American markets, like Florida and Phoenix, don't appreciate their hockey teams. The Panthers are on the right track, but it will take upwards of 5 years to actually see a difference. Dale Tallon is a genius.

Just a bit off the actual topic, but, do you like the Hockey games during the Olympics?

Canada is always strong in the Olympics. So is Sweeden and the Czech Republic (where I'm decended from). But many of the best U.S.A. teams have players that play on their own national teams in the Olympics.
