A near-perfect milestone in female singer-songwriter music, with some of the greatest lyrics of the nineties, and a similarly unrivaled set of emotions.

A rare perfect album. I take away something new and important from it every time I listen to it.

Hell of an album. Extremely well written, biting alternative. Captures the time period perfectly in the music.

I'm actually quite surprised... I thought this would garner a bunch of negative comments on this site. Meh... Confused

I don't mind it. Definite emotion poured throughout, very thoughtful lyrics, and catchy angsty rock. It had it's moment, was an important album at the time, but I'm not sure it's aged well.

I'm not a huge fan.

Alanis played the pissed off woman well...about half the time, too well. A majority of her vocals sound really forced, and the annoying tics in her delivery (the worst ever, in my opinion, along with Garth Brooks and Axl Rose) are way, WAY overplayed. Musically, she sounds out of her element (which she was), and at times, the heavy guitars sound even more out of place. The singles go over well, but for me, this is one full album that I can't wait for the end of.

I was hoping she'd be better next time out. Never happened.
