Albums the Hybrid Theory is better than:

MBDTF by Kanye West
Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol
The Bends by Radiohead
Suicide by Suicide
The Resistance by Muse
The Blue Album by Weezer
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco
Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart

And this isn't even Linkin Park's best!

The bold I agree with without much question. Bright Lights, Bends, Resistance are more comparable, but none of those albums I consider highly anyway. TMR is way ahead of all the other albums you mentioned, I think it has no place in a list like that. Even if you don't enjoy TMR, it's interesting and memorable.

I agree with the point being made, though. It's hard to see Hybrid Theory as a great novelty, but there are far worse albums with greater acclaim.

So let's get to this album.

IMO, Linkin Park had potential to make a better album than this, but somehow, they got stuck with playing the same song over and over with some changes. As a result, Hybrid Theory is not a magnificently terrible album, but just a slightly boring one, as the loud playing and the shouting, it all gets tiring pretty quickly.

It's telling that the first time I listened to this album, I wasn't paying attention to the tracklist and was just listening to the music, when after a few minutes I started wondering when they would get to the next song. Then I looked at the tracklist, and discovered that I had actually listened to three tracks already. My reaction: Neutral

45/100 maybe. It doesn't compare to The White Album, that I know.

There is a lot worse music than Linkin Park lurking out there. Its never going to be something that I seek out and intentionally try to listen to, but its certainly better than a lot of the other garbage out there. Its ranked a bit higher than I would expect, but its not an abomination that it ends up on people's lists or anything.

Don't worry, Eggman, Trout Mask Replica will always be underappreciated. It's okay, though, all the best work is.

Yeah, until TMR reaches the top 5 on BEA, it will be underappreciated.

Oh yes, TMR reminds me.........I found a 12-year-old who likes Beefheart.
