I've realised that, even though I've listend closely to other albums by Sonic Youth, nothing comes close top the record ...A thousand leaves", in my opinion. That's an unusual choice as most people rather would pick "Daydream Nation", "Goo" or "Dirty".
That made want to hear if you have any unusual favorite albums by a band or a singer?

Fables of the Reconstruction is my favorite R.E.M. album. But the other albums I've heard by them are Out of Time and Automatic for the People, and I think their 90s style is really bland. I need to listen to more of their older albums such as Murmur.

Before and After Sceince is my favorite Brian Eno album, despite Another Green World, Here Come the Warm Jets and Music for Airports seems more famous.

And Spirit of Eden is my favorite Talk Talk album. It might not be a very unusual choice, but all their fans seems to consider Laughing Stock to be much better. I just haven't heard Laughing Stock yet, so maybe that's why.

I guess Trust by Elvis Costello is an unusual favorite of mine by him, I think it's has some of his best ideas. Watertown by Frank Sinatra is also an overlooked masterpiece and by far my favorite of his.

I remember 'Fables of the Reconstruction' being the worst R.E.M. album I ever listened to. The whole thing sounded too quiet and nothing stuck out at all.

The Beatles - The Beatles
Ascension - John Coltrane
Metal Machine Music - Lou Reed
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd

There are some more, but these are among the ones that also rank highly on my overall chart. Also, I've excluded some albums (Doc at the Radar Station, White Light/White Heat, etc.) which I'm not so sure are better than the more traditional choices (Trout Mask Replica, The Velvet Underground and Nico).

Ultra (Depeche Mode)
Parachutes (Coldplay)
Boy (U2)
Nine Types of Light (TV on the Radio)
maybe The Velvet Underground's s/t album

I don't think White Album is an unusual choice.

I love The Beatles untitled album it's such an incredible double album and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is one of the greatest psychedelic rockalbums ever.

Recently I have been preferring Eric Dolphy's Out There over Out to Lunch.

Oh my Gawwd is probably my favourite Flaming lips album.

45:33 is the best LCD Soundsystem release.

I don't know, most people seem to prefer Revolver, Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper.

Agreed. Sadly, they are often overlooked in favor of inferior albums.
